چکیده

Hydrodynamic effects are known to significantly affect the collective behavior of wet active matter systems. However, non-linear many-body nature these interactions makes them very challenging analyze, particularly in dense suspensions. Quincke rollers one canonical examples artificial microswimmers. These particles that move freely above a plate due torque generated by uniform DC electric field. A system involving many such exhibits variety dynamics, as disordered gas, polar liquid, and crystal states. This work accomplishes numerical simulations 3D containing order explicitly resolve hydrodynamic understand role play resulting dynamics. It reveals far-field tend drive ordered motion, while near-field behavior, reproduce diverse capturing between without resorting approximations previously employed.

A fully resolved consensus between fully resolved phylogenetic trees.

Nowadays, there are many phylogeny reconstruction methods, each with advantages and disadvantages. We explored the advantages of each method, putting together the common parts of trees constructed by several methods, by means of a consensus computation. A number of phylogenetic consensus methods are already known. Unfortunately, there is also a taboo concerning consensus methods, because most b...

Hydrodynamics of bacterial motion

In this paper we present a hydrodynamic approach to describe the motion of migrating bacteria as a special class of self-propelled systems. Analytical and numerical calculations has been performed to study the behavior of our model in the turbulent-like regime and to show that a phase transition occurs as a function of noise strength. Our results can explain previous experimental observations a...

Hydrodynamics determines collective motion and phase behavior of active colloids in quasi-two-dimensional confinement.

We study the collective motion of confined spherical microswimmers such as active colloids which we model by so-called squirmers. To simulate hydrodynamic flow fields including thermal noise, we use the method of multiparticle collision dynamics. We demonstrate that hydrodynamic near fields acting between squirmers as well as between squirmers and bounding walls crucially determine their collec...

Implementing fully relativistic hydrodynamics in three dimensions

We report on our numerical implementation of fully relativistic hydrodynamics coupled to Einstein’s field equations in three spatial dimensions. We briefly review several steps in our code development, including our recasting of Einstein’s equations and several tests which demonstrate its advantages for numerical integrations. We outline our implementation of relativistic hydrodynamics, and pre...

Collective motion

We review the observations and the basic laws describing the essential aspects of collective motion — being one of the most common and spectacular manifestation of coordinated behavior. Our aim is to provide a balanced discussion of the various facets of this highly multidisciplinary field, including experiments, mathematical methods and models for simulations, so that readers with a variety of...
